Fall is when the mountain comes out. This Browns Point home hands families and couples the real Pacific Northwest: Mt Rainier across the water at sunrise, seals and sea lions cruising past the yard, and a gas fireplace beside the spa tub that comes on for the season. Sleeps 7, water from every room in the house, three kayaks included.
15 minutes to downtown Tacoma, 30 to SeaTac. Dogs welcome. Book your fall dates. Puget Sound is the backyard — not a view across the road, not a peek between houses. The water starts where the lawn ends, and in autumn the haze lifts and Mt Rainier stands clear across Commencement Bay.
THE FALL VERSION OF THIS HOUSE
• The gas fireplace between the primary bedroom and bath is seasonal — it comes on now. Run the jetted spa tub, light the fire, watch the water through the window.
• A second fireplace and deep recliners downstairs, blankets out, ships sliding past.
• A propane fire table on the sheltered side deck for the first cold evenings.
• Storm-watching season: a wall of south-facing windows, weather rolling up the bay.
• The clearest mountain mornings of the year, with coffee on the deck at sunrise.
THE WATER
• Three kayaks, paddles, and life jackets provided — launch straight off the beach and paddle to the lighthouse.
• Seals, sea lions, eagles, kingfishers, herons; guests have watched otters and loons from the couch.
• Container ships, tugs, and the Wednesday-evening sailing fleet crossing the bay.
• Pebble beach below the wall, open at low tide for beachcombing.
THE LAYOUT — EVERY ROOM LOOKS AT THE WATER
• Top floor: great room, dining, and full kitchen with granite island and panoramic bay windows; water-facing deck plus sheltered side deck with BBQ; half bath.
• Middle floor: primary king suite facing the Sound — spa jetted tub, walk-in shower, see-through fireplace, private balcony, Roku TV.
• Lower floor: family room with Roku TV, queen bedroom, bunk room, full bath, laundry, and a turf patio that steps out to the beach.

THE NEIGHBORHOOD
Browns Point is a small peninsula community wrapped in water on nearly every side, anchored by its 1887 lighthouse. Walk to the lighthouse park and the local diner. Downtown Tacoma is 15 minutes; Point Defiance Park and Zoo 20; SeaTac airport about 30. Rideshare runs reliably.
GOOD TO KNOW
Three storeys with several flights of stairs — you should be comfortable on stairs to enjoy this house. The retaining wall is for looking, not sitting; tides rise fast, so children need an adult at the water. The walkway steps down to the beach are tide-worn — wear grippy shoes.
You have access to the entire house, with the exception of a couple of closets that are locked for supply storage.

Browns Point is one of Tacoma’s best-kept secrets: a small peninsula community tucked into Northeast Tacoma where Puget Sound wraps around on nearly every side. The neighborhood has the feel of a close-knit waterfront town with views of the Sound, the Tacoma skyline, and on a clear day, Mount Rainier. The historic Browns Point Lighthouse anchors the point and has been a Pacific Northwest landmark since 1887. It is quiet, clean, and walkable in the way that only a true peninsula neighborhood can be. Downtown Tacoma is about 15 minutes away, and Seattle-Tacoma International Airport is roughly 30 minutes south. Uber and Lyft serve the area well, so you can leave the car and explore without a second thought.
Our street is a quiet residential street, narrow by design and easy to navigate once you know it. The driveway fits 2 larger or 4 smaller vehicles comfortably. If you are traveling in a large SUV or truck, rideshare is a smart call. Uber and Lyft are both active and reliable in Tacoma, making it easy to leave the car behind and enjoy the area without the hassle of parking.
